about

Hewn from long associations between David Wickins, Emil Viklicky, Petr Dvorsky and myself, this concert represents a snapshot of our joy in playing together. Recorded in 2012 at the fantastic venue and recording studio Mediencampus Villa Ida, Leipzig. We were invited by our gracious hosts Cathrin Neufeldt and Thomas Bruekner. It is a live recording, so maybe don't expect pithy, snappy versions of songs - more an emerging dialogue over several minutes!
Emil needs little introduction in central Europe, the U.S.A., Japan and S. Korea, having orchestrated for and played with Wynton Marsalis, among many other greats.
He invited David and I over to the newly proclaimed Czech Republic 30 years ago, and we've kept things bubbling ever since. Emil and I dedicate this album to the memory of our friend David Wickins, whose dynamic drumming was a catalyst and inspiration for us, and whose company was always up-lifting.
